Blessings in October
First Blessing!

This month really started on a very happy weekend. October 3, 2008 to be exact, COVIE ANGELO GABRIEL ANDAYA arrived in our life. After 5 years of having Althea as our only source of joy, now we have another reason to be happy.
The CS operation of Avie went smoothly, unlike the first time where she really experienced some difficulty because her doctor thought she can have the baby in normal delivery. But, after 12hours of agony & stress we finally decided to have her undergo a CS operation to save her from further pain. Avie was released in the hospital after 3 days, but sadly our first born Althea had to stay in the hospital for 1 week. No thanks, to the decision of the irresponsible doctor not to give Avie an operation much earlier, which could have prevented our baby from getting bacteria while waiting too long inside her mommy’s womb.
Time flies really really fast; our little princess grew up to be a very smart child. Avie & I thought before that Althea would be our only child, due to hardships in economy & thinking that we can’t provide anything for her if she will have a sibling. As Althea is growing up, she always tells us that she wants to be a big sister so she can take care of the baby just as her mommy is taking very good care of her. In 2006, when we are ready to have another baby, Avie suffered a miscarriage after her first month. We got saddened, but we knew that God has plan for us & maybe it’s not really meant to be.

The first time we saw Covie, everyone in our family was so happy. We are now complete having Althea & Covie in our life. Ate Althea turned out to be a very loving & protective ate, sometimes she’s more worried than us everytime her baby brother would cry. She would make “lambing” to us every once in a while, even without her saying that she’s jealous of the attention of her brother is getting, we know that she is. Perhaps she’s really not used to having another special angel in our house. We can see that Covie would grow up to be a very good child just like his ate.

Second blessing!

Our office cooperative group organized a fund raising activity in celebration of our company’s anniversary. The ticket costs Php 500.00 for 10 Bingo Games & raffle ticket for the grand prize of a brand new car. Each member is required to have 1 ticket, but as not being members were not interested to buy even 1 ticket because we knew that we are not lucky in bingo & raffle draws even during our party every christmas. The aunt of Avie who is an officer in the group asked her to get at least 1 ticket so she can sell all her tickets, so Avie just obliged & got 1 ticket.
The day before Avie took a leave from work to rest for her upcoming operation, she chose a raffle ticket for the draw. October 23, 2008 is the big day here in the office, it’s the day to play the Bingo & a chance to own a brand new car. It’s a thursday and it’s badminton day specially for us badicts here in the office. I knew we’re not lucky in raffle draw; I preferred to play badminton because we’ ll be playing in a tournament next month and I know that we have less chance of winning, for having only 1 ticket. I asked Eloisa our officemate friend if she has a ticket & if she likes to play our ticket. I told her that it’s in her genes that she is a born winner, because her aunt & uncle here in the office always win in raffle draws. She didn’t hesitate & got the ticket and said she would be happy to play it for us. Having a bad game after bad game in practice, I was in a sad mood having thought that I’m having a bad day.
While in a car with my team mates and in silent mode, Reggie received a text message saying that Avie won. I first said that what consolation price did she won? I got the shocked of my life when he said that Avie won the grand prize : a SUZUKI ALTO. I didn’t know what to say or what to do, then text messages keep coming in my cellphone. When I had received confirmation that it is really true, I thanked the lord for another blessing that he has given us & hurriedly called Avie, but she was not answering her phone so I tried calling our landline phone & when she answered I just told her WE WON THE CAR! she thought that I was just kidding, I told her to check her phone messages to confirm it and she was stunned to see the congratulatory messages from officemates & friends.

Until now I am still in awe of how blessed we are; everyday I keep thanking the lord for being so good to us. I don’t know if I deserved everything that I’m having right now, but I know that God has his reason, and all I have to do is to be grateful for whatever blessing that is coming in our way.
