Botbot & Tintin – December 28th 2007

December 28, 2007 christian 1 comment

The day is December 28, 2007, the wedding of my wife’s EX-BOYFRIEND (are you thinking why are we gonna attend the wedding?!) The groom is a good guy & VERY GENEROUS in treating us everytime, that’s why it’s OK! hehehe!

Anyway, still having the after effects of the burial of my wife’s grandma & all the christmas parties. Have to travel from Pililla, Rizal to Taytay, Rizal(our home) for 1 1/2 hrs after our overnight stay in one of the grandest rest house I’ve ever been. While driving we keep on playing in my ipod shuffle the song that I’m going to use for the onsite video, repeating the song until we reach home.

It’s a plus that you a have a wonderful wife (Avie) as your companion who is very supportive of what I do & the lady who does all the layout of my DVD menus.

At home, after I prepare everything for my first onsite (laptop, videocam, tripod, extension cord) just took a quick shower and we’re on the way to the Church @ Tandang Sora, Q.C. While on the car we still keep on playing the onsite video music.

We arrived at the church 30 minutes before the ceremony, feeling a little nervous I started shooting the footage of the church, guests & entourage. Just playing at the back of my mind the music so I will shoot footages in coordination with the music’s tempo.

The ceremony started at exactly 3:00 pm I took my spot in the right side of the aisle near the front door and after the groom & all the entourage have walked, it’s time to close the door for the bride’s turn to take her last steps of singlehood. The door opened and the lovely bride is standing at the front door (first time I saw the bride) & started walking towards her parents at the middle part of the aisle. As the ceremony passes by, I continue to shoot candid moments discreetly so as not to disturb the solemnity of the sacrament & not to block the views of the official videographer of the couple. After the ceremony & after all the confettis were thrown, it’s time for real business! On the way to the reception, Avie took the driver seat & I hop at the back seat, so I don’t only have a wife but I also have a driver (I LOVE YOU MOMMY!) I started connecting the firewire cable from my videocam to the laptop. I thought it would be easy capturing, but the laptop won’t recognize the videocam. After 15 minutes we arrived at the reception and still the laptop won’t recognize the cam.

I am beginning to worry, because I have 35minutes of video to capture & I still have to edit it. At last after 25 minutes of trying the laptop finally recognizes the camera so I started capturing for 35minutes, while waiting for it to finished I chatted with Gen (the fiancee of the official videographer/owner of playback videos) while Bim is already editing their onsite video, I am still waiting for the capturing process to finish. I edited the video for almost 2 hours just in time when Bim also finished editing. I used a shorter music so I can finish it fast.

Playback Videos showed their onsite first, it was a great onsite & everybody appreciated the video. After seeing their video I didn’t show my onsite yet, I waited for the other program to finish then I approached one of the cooordinators that I have a surprise onsite video for the couple.

Then it’s showtime! For 2 1/2 minutes the couple and their guests were attentively watching the video while I am nervous thinking if everybody will like the onsite video made by a rookie vidoegrapher, then a round of applause were heard. It felt good, even if I haven’t eaten since lunch because I’m overwhelmed by the fact that I pulled it off.

Playback Video said that I have a future, considering that it’s my first time. It was such an honor hearing it from an established & very good videographer.

The couple were grateful for the surprise that me & Avie made. Yes! also Avie because if not for her loving support & understanding I wouldn’t be able to finish it, & I would not have met the couple. hehe!

With this wonderful experience, I’m already looking forward for my next wedding coverage.
